What is Hair Loss & Alopecia Areata?

Hair Loss can be classified mainly in to:

  • Alopecia Areata
Alopecia Areata is an auto-immune skin disease which results in the loss of hairs from different parts of the body especially scalp. As in other auto-immune diseases here too, the person's own immune system attacks the hair follicles, resulting in round, smooth bald patches on the scalp. A person with a family history of autoimmune diseases is prone to develop this condition.

  • General hair loss
Normally few hairs shed daily. Every 2-3 months hair falls out cyclically and new hair grow in its place. Excessive hair loss more than normal and failure of new hair growth are the factors which lead to baldness.

  • Male Pattern Baldness
Genetic condition, inherited from either parents. Susceptibility of hair follicles to DHT (it’s a byproduct of testosterone) Hair become thinner, shorter and easily shed leaving behind shiny, bald patches. Once the hair follicles permanently atrophy in size, the condition becomes permanent.

  • Female Pattern BaldnessHair
loss in women caused by hormonal imbalance & aging. Genetic predisposition & family history usually evident. Hair loss after long continued disease. Hormonal disturbances such as those after menopause cause thinning of hair. Unlike male pattern baldness, frontal hairline is maintained. Thinning & loss of hair takes place from all over. Usually leads to permanent hair loss if left untreated.

Treatment

Conventional Treatment Why Homeopathy

The non-homeopathic approach of suppressing the autoimmune response with local steroid (cortisone) may work temporarily. Moreover it is limited to the particular patch only. Chances of relapses are common and the course of treatment remains unpredictable. Non homeopathic treatments have no long-term advantages and do not alter the nature of the disease.

Local Treatments:
Below mentioned treatments, work superficially and only in cases where patchy loss of hair appear.

They aren’t recommended when hair loss is more than 50%.

They do not prevent relapses and provides only a temporary solution.

  • Local Steroids injection:
(more commonly used) Local steroids (cortisone) injected at the site of hair loss may help in their reappearance.
  • Minoxidil:
Local minoxidil may help in patch loss of hair. Not recommended when more than 50 % scalp hair is lost.

Systemic Treatments:

  • Usually recommended when there is massive hair loss, say more than 50%.
  • Cortisone pills: Along with local cortisone injections, systemic treatment helps only till they are taken. There is always a possibility of losing hair after stopping the treatment.

There is always a possibility of massive side effects.

Homeopathy, on the other hand, covers the defective immune response & takes in to consideration the family history or genetic predisposition, nature and intensity of the disease as well as systemic, emotional and many other factors commonly affecting this condition.

Chance of revival of hair WITH HOMEOPATHY in partially affected areas does exist !

Chance of slowing down the process WITH HOMEOPATHY definitely exists !

Why homeopathy in Male & Female Pattern Baldness ?

In Male & Female Pattern Baldness, Homeopathy can help reduce or stop the progression of the condition in most cases. If diagnosed early and treated before the condition becomes irreversible, homeopathy can help in the regeneration of hair where the hair follicles are active.

Homeopathy plays a possible role in stimulating the partially atrophied hair follicles and rejuvenating hair which has thinned or become scantly. Most cases treated at Preet Homeopathy first found a slowdown in the falling of hair, followed by re-growth and increased density of hair in the affected areas. The main advantage of the treatment is - prevention of further loss on competition of 4-6 months of treatment.

In Male & Female due to atrophied hair follicles an aggressive approach including internal homeopathic medicines as well as local herbal extracts are used:

Internal Homeopathic remedies: Possibly helps in reducing susceptibility to DHT Local Herbal (Homeopathic) extracts:

Stimulate the partially atrophied follicles
